The Costs Behind a Thai Driving License
Whether you do it yourself or with us, these are the things you pay for. With us, all of them are part of one fixed price.

What Changes the Price
- Motorcycle, car or both. The DLT keeps a separate file for each license, so both licenses mean two medical certificates, two residence certificates and two card fees.
- What you are applying for. Converting a foreign license, renewing a Thai license or upgrading from the 2-year to the 5-year license. See our renewal guide.

If You Do It Yourself
You pay the same government fee and the same certificates. What costs you on top is time:
- A Smart Queue slot at DLT Phuket is currently 3 to 6 months away. The alternative is travelling to another province on your own.
- You visit a clinic and Phuket Immigration separately, often more than once.
- If one paper is wrong, the DLT sends you away. A common case is a medical certificate that is older than 30 days on the day of your appointment. See the medical certificate guide.
